MOUNTAIN ROAD TRADITIONAL MUSIC CAMP

We are excited to announce that this year’s Mountain Road Traditional Music Camp– is moving to gorgeous Monterey, Virginia!!
A weekend for playing and socializing with fellow fiddle (and non-fiddle) students. Nightly sessions and Ceili dance! The camp starts Friday evening and ends that following Sunday. All ages and levels welcome. Learn new tunes, phrasing, how to perform Irish and Old Time fiddle tunes. Ballad singing, guitar accompaniment, and Clawhammer banjo will also be available. Ensemble class for kids in all instruments where they learn how to perform as a band.
FEES:
The cost of camp is $150.
All family members of fully registered students can themselves take any class (fiddle, banjo, guitar, voice, etc.) for only $40 per class.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
~Registered participants can sign up for any of the classes listed on the schedule. There is no limit to numbers of classes participants can take, but we do need to know in advance so teachers can prepare. Some classes may have a size limit, so register early!
~Ensemble students will take classes listed as “Ensemble“ on the schedule. If your child is interested in doing Ensemble AND some other classes, please contact Alex.
~The Friday evening Jam Session and Sunday morning Gospel Sing are free to all participants and family members.
~Feel free to ask Alex or any of the teachers what level you may be considered.
~Schedule is based on class size and interest and may be subject to change.

ACCOMMODATIONS and FOOD:
Students should arrange accommodations and food. Rooms are available, and it’s always a good idea to make reservations well in advance at the inn. We also offer meal plans– includes Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner plus Sunday breakfast.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Students pay in full at the time of registration. If a student cancels before August 1st, they will be refunded all but $20. Registration is nonrefundable on or after August 1st.
GENERAL SCHEDULE:
Friday Evening– Arrive and relax. Slow jam session at 5 PM. Picnic at 6 PM. Introductions and Teacher Performance at 8 PM.
Saturday– Classes all day. Small student performance and dance at 8 PM, late night jam sessions.
Sunday–Morning sing-a-long.
Feel free to ask Alex or any of the teachers what level you may be considered. Fiddle students are encouraged to take the 3 fiddle classes scheduled for their level. Ensemble classes are intended for kids under 12 for any instrument, dance or singing (any skill level).

Please be sure to bring your instruments. Please bring snacks and bottled water. Feel free to record your lessons.
