  • Saturday, June 20th, 3PM Join Alex Caton and the recipients of the 2026 Arts Center in Orange Mentorship Study Award as they play their final concert. Jake Smith, Sylvie Weidman, and Alex will take you through their 6 months of rigorous and fun study, and you will hear about all the work they accomplished, all the places they played, and the people they met sharing traditional music. The Art Center in Orange 3 PM

Previous dates:

  • Saturday, April 25th from noon-3 PM, I will be running the Whiskey Jar Traditional Irish Music open jam. All levels and Irish music instruments are welcome.
  • Sunday, April 19th, an incredibly talented group of folks will be playing at Patch Brewery in Gordonsville playing Traditional Irish Music from 2-4ish.
  • Saturday, April 18th, I will be running an open community jam from 2:30-4 PM (Irish, Old Time, Bluegrass- whatever!) on the steps of Town Hall in Gordonsville. Come bring an instrument or listen and participate in “Gordonsville in Bloom” street festival (entire event runs 11 AM- 4 PM).
  • Friday April 17th, I will be joining Seth and Fiona to play for the Boot Scoot Square Dance at Potter’s Craft Cider from 5:3–8:30 PM. No experience necessary to participate. All dances will be taught to driving live music.
  • Thursday, April 16th, Uncle Pen will be sharing the bill with Patrick James at Dürty Nelly’s,. We will play first at 8 PM. We have been described as “Just The Right Amount of Bluegrass”, Traditional Bluegrass Band. Come figure out what that means!
  • Sunday, March 28th- Uncle Pen (Trad Bluegrass) at Albemarle Ciderworks, North Garden, VA. 2:30-4:30 PM
  • Saturday, March 21st- Meet Pat Egan and Alex Caton at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA. Come get a room at the beautiful hotel and enjoy our sets of music! 12-2 and 6-8 PM
  • Sunday, March 15th- celebrate St Pat’s with Alex Caton and Friends at Patch Brewery, Gordonsville. 2-4 PM
